Hi everyone! Welcome to my online gallery!
I'm a high school English teacher by day, self-taught artist by night. One thing to know about me is that I'm a product of the 1970's--I love anything bright and retro and funky, and I think that's reflected in my creations.
A few years ago, I retaught myself how to do macrame (fondly remembering that very cool owl I'd made at church camp as a child from string and beads and two sticks). I sold my creations at a local craft fair.
For 2007's Christmas street fair, I thought to myself, "What can I make that's relatively easy, inexpensive, yet fun and funky?" Well, wouldn't you know that PET ROCKS popped into my head! I decided to give it a go. Much to my boyfriend's amusement and chagrin, my "rock painting studio" (ie: living room floor, dining table, his enclosed patio) was created. Lo and behold, I sold over 300 rocks at that street fair!
I've gone on to start creating on canvas, paper, totes, shoes, boxes--whatever I can get my hands on! I love the act of creating, because I get into a totally relaxed zone, much-needed after a long day at school!
I've also discovered the wonderful world of Etsy, Zazzle, and Cafepress! I thought that if local people liked my handiwork, then people from around the globe might like it as well. My work resides in homes throughout the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
Thanks for stopping by and looking around! I'd love to hear from you! Custom orders are always welcome!
